CARROLLTON RECEIVES AT&T ROBOTICS GRANT
On Monday, February 22, 2010, Marshall M. Criser III, President of AT&T Florida and parent of Anne, Grade 7, presented Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart with a $100,000 grant to support the expansion of its Robotics Program. Commissioner and Montessori parent, Bruno A. Barreiro, and Commissioners Frank Carollo and Wilfredo Gort joined Carrollton students and Sr. Suzanne Cooke, for the presentation ceremony.
The grant will not only assist Carrollton in offering financial need-based scholarships to students interested in pursuing robotics, it will also provide the school with the resources needed to offer school-year and summer programs to middle school age girls from among Carrollton’s Community Partners: Honey Shines, the Barnyard and Breakthrough Miami. Additionally, this funding will support a group of Carrollton robotics seniors known as S.H.E., Sacred Heart Engineers, devoted to developing younger girls’ interests in the field by introducing, training and mentoring middle-school age girls.
