CARROLLTON’S GOLF AND TENNIS

Carrollton’s Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament took place on Friday, November 13th at the Crandon Park Golf Course on Key Biscayne. Tennis was played next door at the International Tennis Center, home of the Sony Ericsson Tournament. In the past years, these tournaments have generated funds of over $160,000 which have helped support our entire athletic program; 12 high school and 9 junior high sports. Almost half of the student body actively participates in junior varsity or varsity teams. This year the tournament raised over $40,000. We would like to thank our committee, volunteers, and all of our sponsors and participants for helping make this year’s event another success. Congratulations to all our tournament winners!

Since 2006, three Carrollton golf team members have repeatedly been named All-Dade Athletes. In Golf, Carrollton teams have been District Champions in 2004 – 2008. Carrollton Tennis brought home the District Championship in 2009 and were State Runner-Ups in Doubles. Through the Developmental Sports Programs, younger students are improving their team skills and athletic ability in preparation for Junior Varsity and Varsity sports. Carrollton’s athletic program is continuing to strengthen and additional funding from this annual tournament will ensure its continued growth.
