Our Philosophy and Approach
Comprehensive in nature and based on the relational aspect of Sacred Heart education, the college counselors work closely with students and their parents to provide an ongoing, developmentally appropriate college counseling program. The college counselors are experienced educators committed to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education and to helping each student grow in her awareness of her strengths, interests, and goals to make the best possible fit between herself and her post-secondary plans. The college counselors are committed to building strong partnerships with students, parents, counselors, and colleges.
As soon as a student enters Grades 9-12 at Carrollton, the focus on college admission becomes integral to her life as a student. The decisions she makes regarding the classes she takes and the intellectual and extracurricular activities she pursues can impact her choices later. The college counselors utilize a three-pronged approach when working with the students– Know Yourself, Know the Process, and Know the Colleges. Partnership with the parents is an integral part of the journey and they are provided with relevant programming and opportunities to meet with the college counselors throughout the process.
To Schedule a College Visit
Carrollton looks forward to hosting college admission representatives to meet with interested juniors and seniors. We prefer in-person visits, which typically last between 30-45 minutes.
Please use Naviance’s Rep Visits to schedule your visit. If your preferred date/time is not available or you cannot use Rep Visits, please reach out to Carmen Perez-Febles at cperez@carrollton.org to discuss different options.
