Upper School (Grades 9-12) Admission Procedures

To sign up for a Showcase, a tour, register for an event and apply for admissions, please create a Carrollton Admission Portal account here. We look forward to getting to know you and helping you learn more about Carrollton! We ask that you file your application with consideration for the time required to test and interview your daughter, as well as to receive her records and recommendation forms. The Admission Committee strongly recommends that you apply early to ensure sufficient time to complete the student’s file.

The following items are required before the Admission Committee can consider an applicant’s file complete:

  • Application Form: Create a Carrollton Admissions Portal account to complete Steps 1-4 which includes an application fee of $50.
  • Academic Records including Standardized Test Scores and Teacher Recommendations: Carrollton requires Math, English and Principal Recommendations along with academic records for the past 4 years your daughter has been in a school which must be submitted electronically by the student’s current school; however, the parents are responsible for requesting the recommendations through Carrollton’s Admissions Portal.  The recommendations must be requested online.  You will need the recommender's first and last name, as well as their email addresses for recommendation submission.
  • Student Writing Sample - Available on our Carrollton Admissions Portal.

Entrance Examination

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart requires the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).   As articulated in our Goals and Criteria, Schools of the Sacred Heart commit themselves to educate to a deep respect for intellectual values.  Carrollton has always based admissions decisions on a comprehensive and holistic evaluation of each applicant, not only considering the entrance exam, but also evaluating all of our requirements for admissions such as the interview of the applicant and her parents, the student writing sample, school recommendations, and transcripts.   Please note both exams are offering families a secure, online, remotely proctored option that enables students to take the exam at a time that is convenient for their schedules at home.

The Admission Committee will accept ISEE and/or SSAT for any applicant applying to the Upper School.  Please register to take the exam with the links below:

The ISEE is scheduled to be proctored at Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, December 10th  and Saturday, January 21st following CDC and government guidelines.  Please note these dates are subject to change.

*In order to sit for the entrance exam the application form and fee must be submitted.

    Interviews

Upon receipt of your application, we will schedule the academic/family interview.  All Upper School interviews are for both parents.

      Decisions

All decisions will be posted on the Carrollton Admissions Portal or emailed on February 24th, 2023. Under no circumstances will decisions be given over the phone.

Barat Scholarship - Incoming 9th grade students only
The Barat Scholarship is awarded to an exceptional applicant in Grade 9 who demonstrates high academic achievement and active involvement in her community. A Barat Scholar seeks to be inspired intellectually and to share her gifts and talents with the Carrollton community. Named for our foundress, Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, this award honors students who, as Goal II states, demonstrate a deep respect for intellectual values. An Admissions Committee determines the scholarship recipients based on a holistic process that includes a review of grades and test scores (a combined average of 75th percentile or above on the ISEE or SSAT subtests), supplemental essay responses, and a student interview. The Barat Scholarship grants a student $7,000 for each of her 4 years in the Upper School at Carrollton for a total of $28,000. This scholarship is available ONLY to students applying to Grade 9.  All applicants must take either the ISEE or the SSAT by the end of December.

*Please note that the Priority Deadline of December 31, 2022 is for the submission of your daughter’s Carrollton Admissions application and entrance exam scores in order to be eligible for the 9th Grade Barat Scholarship Competition.

Applications received after January 10, 2023 are considered late applications. Click here for late applicant procedures.
