Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a wonderful way to reconnect with your classmates and your school. If you are interested in any of the below volunteer opportunities or have any questions please call the Alumnae Office at 305-446-5673 ext: 1250 or e-mail us at mcgarcia@carrollton.org.

Class Representatives
The responsibility of Class Representatives is to act as a liaison between the Alumnae Office and their respective class. They are essential in the reunion planning process and in providing contact information for the alumnae database. There can be more than one Class Representative per class.
Alumnae Council Member
As officers of the Alumnae Association, Council Members work to plan and coordinate alumnae events and activities throughout the year. It’s mission is intended to strengthen Carrollton and its Alumnae Association through financial contributions, promotion, meetings, reunions, newsletters, correspondence and activities.
Career Day Panelists
Alumnae representing various career fields talk to high school students and faculty about their educational and career paths and what has lead them to become the person they are today. The students visit two sessions of interest and enjoy hearing stories and experiences of the alumnae that once sat where they are seated today.
Annual Fund Volunteers
Contact with fellow alums is our vital link in the Annual Fund drive. The Annual Fund is essential to the life of the school. Alumnae are beneficiaries of earlier successful campaigns.
Mentoring
Mentoring is one of the most popular volunteer opportunities for alumnae. There are two mentoring breakfasts throughout the year: one for Sophomores and one for Seniors. The students are paired with an alumna who shares similar interests and serves as a role model for the student as well as a link to their Sacred Heart life after graduation. Alums benefit by sharing in the life of the school and by building a relationship with the student that is valuable and beneficial to both.
Internship Opportunities
Please consider offering an internship opportunity to an Upper School student/s and/or young alumna. It's a wonderful way to expose the student and/or alumna to a career she hopes to one day work in.
Spirirt Store Volunteer
The Spirit Store is managed and maintained solely by alumnae. Alumnae volunteers are always welcome. If interested, please contact Pilar Cendoya Alvarez-Mena '77 at Carrolltonstore@icloud.com.

Carrollton Student and Alumna Host Their Annual Smash Cancer Tennis-a-Thon

On Sunday, January 10th Carrollton alumna, Isabella Leano '20, and Carrollton student, Anais Leitchling '21, were published in the Miami Herald Sunday Neighbors section for their second annual Smash Cancer Tennis-a-Thon.

They co-founded their charity two years ago when they bonded over their love for tennis, and since then have raised $6,500 of their $10,000 goal. They weren't going to let the pandemic stop them from raising funds this year, so they played six consecutive hours instead of the 12 hours last year, and arranged to play alongside other junior players, club pros and even former touring tennis professionals.

Their Carrollton community is so proud of them for recognizing a need, and adapting to the world's circumstances to make sure they still have an opportunity to serve those needs. They hope Smash Cancer "serves as an opportunity to honor victims and support survivors in their journey to a well-balanced, healthy and fulfilling life."

You can help too by donating at https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/smash-cancer-tennis-a-thon, @SmashCancer_2020 and www.standuptocancer.org.
