Camila Uribe ’26 Awarded the Inaugural Raphael Maria Bastian Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship honors the life and legacy of Raphael Maria Bastian SH’83, P’16, P’18 — a cherished Sacred Heart alumna, devoted mother, and esteemed leader who served as Chair of Carrollton’s Board of Trustees from 2021 to 2024. Her visionary leadership, unwavering faith, and steadfast commitment to the Carrollton community left a lasting and inspiring impact.

The Raphael Maria Bastian Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a rising Grade 12 student who embodies the Sacred Heart values Raphael lived so faithfully:

• A deep and active faith in God

• Intellectual excellence and a love for the pursuit of wisdom

• Leadership rooted in compassion, service, and personal growth

• A dedication to fostering a strong, inclusive, and joyful community

Camila Uribe distinguished herself not only through her academic excellence but also through the spirit with which she leads and serves others. A retreat leader, a member of Carrollton’s Congress, and the co-founder of a nonprofit organization, Camila has demonstrated a profound commitment to service both locally and internationally. Her ability to lead with humility, courage, and compassion reflects the very heart of Sacred Heart education.

In her own words, Camila describes Carrollton as the place that taught her to be "brave, bold, and unapologetically authentic" — a testament to the transformative power of a Sacred Heart education and to the values that Raphael herself cherished.

Generously supported by The Bastian Family Foundation, the Boink family, and Carrollton’s Board of Trustees, the scholarship provides up to $10,000 toward the recipient’s senior year tuition. In the words of the Boink family, this scholarship will "serve as a quiet reminder that someone you may not have met believes in the journey you are on."

As we approach the anniversary of Raphael’s passing, the Carrollton community continues to honor her enduring legacy of faith, service, leadership, and love through this remarkable opportunity for future generations.
