Carrollton Starts the Year in Community - September 22, 2024

At the first Sunday Community Mass of the school year, the Mater Admirabilis Chapel was filled with a vibrant sense of community.

Father Vallee's homily centered on the familiar struggle for power, illustrated in the disciples' argument about who was greatest in the kingdom of God. He reminded us that this drive for power is deeply embedded in our culture, but ultimately leaves us empty. As Frank Sinatra famously said, "even if you win the rat race, you are still a rat." Power, the he emphasized, can never fill the void that only love can satisfy.

Jesus offers a different vision of greatness. He shifts the focus from power to love, teaching that true greatness comes through humility, kindness, and welcoming others as we would welcome Him.

The Head of School closed the Mass with a beautiful reflection on this message, highlighting the role of educators. She reminded us that we see Jesus and the love of God in the faces of our students each day. It is through our daily interactions with children that we are called to live out this love, shaping their hearts and minds with the compassion that Christ modeled for us.
