  • Upper School

Carrollton proudly congratulates Andrea Gross ’26, who was named a Miami Herald Silver Knight Honorable Mention in the Vocational Technical category.

Presented by the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald, the Silver Knight Awards recognize high school seniors in Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Broward counties who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to service.

Andrea’s recognition reflects the remarkable way she has combined technical skill, compassion, and purpose. Through her nonprofit, All For Run, Inc., Andrea has merged her passion for running, innovation, and giving back, raising over $20,000 to support clinical work at hospitals such as Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, helping provide prosthetic limbs for pediatric patients.

As a student in Carrollton’s RECS program, Andrea has applied her educational training to real-world needs, helping to design and manufacture 3D-printed prosthetics. By bridging the gap between digital design and physical manufacturing, she demonstrates a sophisticated command of engineering skills and a unique ability to use technology as a tool for empathy.

Beyond the lab, Andrea is also an award-winning track runner who has helped lead Carrollton to historic state championship victories and earned prestigious individual accolades at the state level. She has also signed to continue competing at the collegiate level with Columbia University, further showcasing the exceptional student-athlete she is.

Andrea’s accomplishments and community impact beautifully reflect Goal III, making this prestigious recognition a well-deserved honor for her dedication to engineering for social good. We are incredibly proud of Andrea, and of all our Carrollton nominees, for leading with compassion, courage, and purpose.
