Empowering Students and Classrooms: Carrollton Faculty at Faith Forward Conference

On Friday, three of our faculty members showcased their innovative approaches to teaching at Belen’s Faith Forward Conference.

Mrs. Diana Sudassasi led “Reflecting Back to Move Forward,” a session highlighting the power of self-reflection journaling in the math classroom. By guiding students to assess their own work and focus on learning rather than grades, Diana demonstrated how journaling helps students take ownership of their learning, embrace mistakes as opportunities, and cultivate a growth mindset.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Amanda Baumgartner and Mrs. Thais de Leon Perez presented “The Soul of the Classroom: Teaching with GenAI through a Social Teaching Lens.” Their workshop challenged educators to move beyond simply detecting AI use, instead equipping teachers to integrate Generative AI responsibly in Catholic classrooms. By framing AI through the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, they showed how technology can become a “co-pilot” that supports intellectual growth, moral formation, and the development of human dignity.

Together, these presentations highlighted Carrollton’s commitment to fostering classrooms where students are empowered, learning is purposeful, and innovation is guided by values. We are proud of our faculty for sharing their expertise and advancing the mission of Catholic education.
