Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart remembers with gratitude and admiration the remarkable legacy of Patricia “Pat” O’Malley, a beloved coach and physical education teacher who shaped the lives of many young women.

Pat joined Carrollton in 1976, bringing her passion for athletics and unwavering dedication to inspiring students to challenge themselves and strive for excellence. In 1979, she led Carrollton to its first state championship in tennis, a milestone that filled our school with immense pride.

Beyond her achievements on the court, Pat’s influence extended to the many summers she spent working at Carrollton’s Dolphin Bay Camp, where her enthusiasm and love for sports continued to enrich the lives of young campers. Her devotion to the Sacred Heart mission, combined with her competitive spirit and deep faith, left an indelible mark on our community. Her love of Carrollton was passed on to her daughter, Kathleen “Kitty” Rotella, who also served Carrollton for 30 years, impacting new generations.

We give thanks for Pat’s years of service and for the impact she made on so many Carrollton students. Her legacy lives on in the countless young women she mentored, in the competitive drive she instilled, and in the bonds of community she helped strengthen.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time. The family has shared the following information regarding services and donations:

A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Richard/ Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152nd St. in Palmetto Bay, at 10 a.m. Feb. 22. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Food For the Poor in Pat O’Malley’s honor.
