Over the last four years, Isabela Delgado '24 has had the opportunity to participate in the Hafize Gaye Erkan First Republic Fellowship Program, which IGCS and First Republic Bank started in 2020.

This Fellowship program was designed to foster STEM education, leadership, and career paths for promising young women from underserved backgrounds and provide a uniquely holistic approach to developing young women into lifelong learners and transformational leaders of character. Only 10 young women worldwide were selected to receive the opportunity to participate in this fellowship as the first class of Erkan Fellows. Throughout the last four years, Isabela has received $20,000 to support her STEM interests. Over the years, she has been able to select programs and experiences. Some of these programs included the University of Pennsylvania Management & Technology Summer Institute, the eMerge Technology Conference, the University of Miami Girls Are for STEM Advanced Math Classes, the Inspirit AI Scholars Program, and the Johns Hopkins University Explore Engineering Innovation. Isabela was recently admitted and will attend the University of Pennsylvania's Jerome Fisher Management and Technology Program, a dual degree program between the Wharton School and the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Isabela shared this quote: “Reflecting on my high school journey, I have found hands-on and collaborative projects most shaped my growth. Thanks to the Erkan Fellowship, opportunities I had only dreamed of suddenly became a reality. I have been able to explore an industry I’m truly passionate about and carry on Dr. Erkan’s mission in my future career.”
