Oyster Restoration Project

Watershed Action Lab presents to Carrollton's Grade 4 students on their Oyster Restoration Project.

  • Upper School

Grade 4 had the opportunity to hear from Tico Aran, founder of the Watershed Action Lab, on the Oyster Restoration Project.

The project aims to improve Biscayne Bay's water quality and overall health by creating vertical oyster gardens that help filter the water and create habitats for marine life. Nicolette Xydas '25 has been leading the project at Carrollton for two years and has collaborated with our community partners at Breakthrough Miami and the Carrollton Girl Scout Troops to help contribute to the project.

By promoting healthy habitats and improved water quality, we can regenerate habitats for today and tomorrow.
