Carrollton's Student Professional Development Program

Carrollton’s Student Professional Development Program aims to offer our students practical, hands-on work experiences across various professions that will allow them to make informed decisions about their future academic studies and career paths.

In addition, the program will equip students with essential career skills, including resume writing, communications, and business etiquette, to prepare them for their success in a professional environment.

Internship - An internship provides a student(s) with a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of study or career interest. Students can shadow a professional and engage in hands-on work on clearly defined projects to maximize their learning experience. 

• Suggested Duration: One to two weeks, or longer if the opportunity allows for it.

Externship - An externship provides an individual or group of students with an opportunity to observe a day in the life of a professional(s) and learn about an industry at a high level. Students will understand different departments within a company and learn about the roles and responsibilities associated with each position.

• Suggested Duration: One to three days

Please note that Carrollton’s Student Professional Development Program’s Internships and Externships are unpaid opportunities.

Students currently in Grades 10, 11, and 12 who have:

• A good academic, attendance, and conduct record with a desire to learn about different professions.
• Students must complete an application and be interviewed to match the student to their desired interests.
• Students must attend a Business Etiquette course hosted by Carrollton to participate.

We are interested in exposing the students to a wide variety of industries and professions. 

During our inaugural year, our students participated in a range of experiences, including Architecture & Design, Business Management, Communications, Education, Entertainment & the Arts, Financial Services, Law, Medicine & STEM along with a variety of other industries.
