Community Service

Local community service includes engagement with members of the local community through nonprofits and organizations that provide direct services in underserved areas. Through these efforts, students develop in-depth knowledge and awareness of local social issues that affect their neighbors and calls them to partake in dialogue that leads to collaborative solutions.

National & Global Extended Service encompasses a wider reach of service that goes beyond the students local scope. These activities may include work with nationally and internationally recognized organizations, mission trips abroad, virtual volunteering, and advocacy work as well as other indirect approaches that serve the common good.

Community service is a way to support people and communities through a wide range of volunteer experiences. Service activities and projects help us grow in our awareness of social issues and build our empathy for others.

Goal III QUEST is Carrollton’s service-learning program, which focuses on meaningful service that connects to justice and community impact. While many volunteer programs and activities focus on accruing hours toward graduation. Goal III QUEST encourages deeper reflection and ongoing relationships with communities in need.

Yes, students will have an annual service goal through our Goal III QUEST Program. Students will receive information throughout the school year about the program, expectations, deadlines, service days and events, and service opportunities in the community.

Service activities and projects should be conducted through eligible nonprofits in good standing that also align with our Catholic identity and school mission. A nonprofit is an organization that works to help others and focuses on specific causes. Our school partners with over 20 organizations for service-learning through Service Days to expose students to the myriad of options. All service locations are verified through Florida’s Division of Corporations website and the IRS.

Transfer students will follow the same guidelines for the time they are at Carrollton. Students with prior approved service may transfer their service activities with proper documentation. The Community Relations office will review documentation and facilitate this process. This transfer is not automatic but can commence once the transfer student has enrolled.

Our program makes a distinction between professional development and community-centered service. Internships often involve professional experiences that include learning industry-specific skills, shadowing and interacting with professionals, and clerical tasks. These experiences are more focused on career exploration designed to prepare you for the workforce.

Goal III QUEST is focused on community-based service that invites students to engage meaningfully with the needs of the broader community especially with organizations and individuals who may be underserved. The focus is not on giving time but on building relationships, growing in empathy, enhancing global perspectives, and contributing to the common good community. Our program invites students to focus on human-centered, hands-on acts of service that directly respond to community needs. This may include meal preparation and distribution, environmental clean-ups, mentorship and educational enrichment, and working with vulnerable populations. Our service program prompts students to compassionately give their time, energy and natural talents.

All service activities will be submitted on our service-tracking platform, Mobileserve. All students will have access to Mobileserve and go through an onboarding process of our program and the platform.

An official staff member of the service site of choice (an approved and eligible nonprofit). Students will need the full name and official email address of the verifier. Parents, peers and minors cannot verify hours.
